Red

In Latin "rubens" is synonym of coloured. It is the first colour of the rainbow that new born is able to recognize, the first that all indigenous people have named. Is the colour that symbolizes activity and movement. Red has been linked to Mars, both the planet and the god of war, because of its association with blood and agrressivity. Red is the symbol of hearth and love, dynamism and vitality, passion and sensuality, authority and pride. In the paleochristian art angels and seraph were painted in red.

It is one of the most dark and transcendental colours that incite to love, affection, altruism, generosity. Symbolize true love and complete physical and spiritual completeness between man and woman. Pink is one of the colours of Venus (Ishtar) and of the Libra

Blue inspire calm and is connoted with placid and deep satisfaction, reveal a state of satisfactory adaptation. Fixing for a long time this colour brings about a state of quiet, satisfaction and harmony. For Chinese people blue is the colour of immortality. Blue is synonym of silence, calm and tranquillity. It is the colour of contemplation and also spirituality. It is associated with the circle, symbol of eternal movement of the spirit, together with quiet and dynamicity. In a blue room the cardiac frequency slows down and the sensibility to cold increase, while the object seems smaller and lighter.

Light blue, as the representation of two natural and evocative symbols as the sea and the sky, even a therapeutically sense, is connoted with a strong tonality, highly interactive. Infact, the serene absolute calm of the sky and the cosy profundity of the sea mix together bringing about a particular equilibrativ quality.

Yellow, causing a sensation of expansion and pushing toward the movement, corresponds to a freedom sensation and self-development. Yellow, in fact, is the colour of illumination and redemption. Symbol of sun, gold and wisdom, pertains to the circle of expansion, idealism and action. In the East yellow is the colour of the Sun, fertility and majesty.

Honey is the colour that is associated with the honey aliment. In all the cultures it symbolize, fist of all, wealth the sweetness. In the sacred books, both of the East and of the West, rivers of the promised lands were made of milk and honey. Celtic traditions celebrated hydromel as the drink of immortality. Greek mythology considered it the drink of the Goods of Olympus. Symbol of knowledge, culture and wisdom it is the aliment reserved for the elected, the initiate, and the exceptional people, both in this world and in the other.

The colour gold represents the light of the sun and symbolizes the expansion of light. In the Buddhism, the golden icons of Buddha symbolize the spiritual awakening and the absolute perfection. Gold is knowledge. In alchemy the mutation of lead in gold symbolize the transformation from human to divine. Gold is the metal of the kings and emperors in all the worlds. It evokes the sun and all its symbology: fecondity, wealth, domination, warm, love, present, light and knowledge.

Smoked colour represents the mystery: it raises our level of consciousness and brings stability and responsibility. Smoked coloured stones are connected to the earth and represent serenity and concentration.

If white means light, black is absence of light. This colour absorbs all the others, it is the absolute "no", represent the "closure". This is one of the reasons why, in our culture, black represents the mourning, sadness and death. Black is also the colour of mystery, of things that are unknown and attracts, or that are prohibited. In astrology can be linked to the sign of Scorpion. In the paleo Christian art black represented the demons.

Grey is the colour of perfect neutrality, a no man land without life. It is chosen to define a non involvement and a distance. In the holy bible it is the colour of hashes, symbol of penitence and mourning.

Violet

Violet

Violet is the union of red and blue, is the colour of metamorphosis, of transition, of mystery and magic. It is the traditional colour of mysticity, spirituality but also of erotic fascination. Violet also means the union of the opposite, suggestibility. In the catholic tradition is the colour of authority and it is worn by the bishops.

Apollonius of Tiana, in telling of the episode of Hercules placed between Voluptuousness and Virtue, describe the first like a beautiful woman that wears a purple cloak (worn by kings and patrician in ancient Rome). Purple is the symbol of materiality, of success, or better, of increasing financial and professional wealth, like the planet with who it is linked, Jupiter in the sign of Sagittarius. Sagittarius is a double sign so also purple is ambivalent: traditionally represents wisdom, majesty, sovereignty, power: under an aspect more spiritual, it symbolizes dignity, idealism, ability and psychic health to high level and protection from all negative things.

Green brings about sensation of solidity, stability, power, constancy and a sentiment of perseverance. The energy of green is potential energy self contained that denotes interior tension. The stability effect produced by green represents, psychologically speaking, the firm values that do not change. The choice of green represents also self-esteem. Green is the colour of vegetation, of nature and life itself. Green is the colour of spring rebirth, of its strength. Green, according to psycology, means power, perseverance, equilibrium and stability. Green is also associated to Venus, goddess of love and fertility. Sometimes green is also associated to negative symbols: is the colour of anger and putrefaction, poison and envy; in the human body represents the sign of heavy sickness and death.

Salmon colour, associated to orange, is the symbol of the raising sun and means optimism, vitality, happiness, altruism, self esteem. Chinese and Japanese people linked salmon to love and happiness. Those who have a predilection for salmon colour are brilliant, positive and energetic; fully appreciate life, express courage, spontaneity and joy of life.

In the Chinese astrology, fall corresponds to the Metal element because the tools of the harvest are made out of metal. Metal symbolize strength and resistance and the work of seeding that will bring in the harvest in spring time. According to the Chinese theory of Elements, metal is born from the earth, from were it is extracted, and produces water, when Fire makes it go back to the liquid state. It is said that metal is the son of the Earth and Mother of Water. Chinese astrology associates Metal to Venus that in China wears the sword of the warrior and the sickle of harvest instead of the symbols of love. Corresponds to the West direction, where the sun goes down and where is situated the land of the deceased.

Fancy represents the thousands colours of the rainbows, according to the ancients, the seven colours of the prism of Newton, the three colours of alchemy, the four colours of ancient and modern typology. Whatever is the number of the "omnes colores", they are the image of totality in all its manifestation: real, psychic or experiential. Because fancy represents the colour of the universe.
